Liverpool have been boosted by the news that Diogo Jota is set to return to training this week.
The Portuguese forward has been out with a knee injury since playing in the Champions League dead rubber fixture against FC Midtjylland at the beginning of December.
At the time of his withdrawal from action, Jota had been in scintillating form and Liverpool were still considered favourites to defend their Premier League crown.
But he returns to the side under remarkably different circumstances, with the Reds currently sixth in the table and out of the title race.
Jota is expected to join in a full training session on Wednesday, reports the Mail, but will not be in line to feature against Sheffield United on Sunday.
He could stand a slim chance of being involved for either clash against Chelsea or Fulham next week though, providing he comes through the training sessions unscathed.
Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be delighted at Jota's return, with his front three in dire need of some fresh impetus.
Liverpool's top four chances suddenly hang in the balance, but they remain just five points off fourth-placed West Ham.
A strong finish to the campaign would likely see them qualify, while they still have the Champions League knockouts to contend with.

It's been an extremely interesting start to the season for Jurgen Klopp's men.
They got their title defence off to a shaky start as they edged out a seven-goal thriller against Leeds, before going on to conceded seven in a hammering by Aston Villa.
Virgil van Dijk's season was ended by injury in the 2-2 draw at Everton, leaving the title favourites looking far less secure at the back – especially with Alisson's injury worries too.
But there's no slowing down in what is going to be a busy campaign – with Klopp ensuring his men continue at full pace as they bid for more title glory.

They already have one foot in the quarter-finals after an impressive victory over RB Leipzig which provided some respite from their dismal domestic form.
An injury to captain Jordan Henderson has threatened to derail their season further however, after he limped out of the Merseyside derby at the weekend.
Liverpool were effectively forced to field their sixth and seventh choice centre-backs for the remainder of the match, with Fabinho not yet recovered from his minor muscle injury.
Who should start in Liverpool's attack when Jota returns? Have your say below.
Speaking after the match, Klopp said of Henderson: “It’s the groin/adductor region and nobody in the medical department was positive about it.
“It doesn’t look good, but we have to wait, of course, for the scan tomorrow [Sunday], hopefully."
Liverpool are yet to provide an update on Henderson's condition but it is thought he could be out for several weeks.
