Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah became the fifth fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals after finding the back of the net against Leeds United. The Egyptian took his tally for the season to three in the clash at Elland Road.

Salah struck midway through the first-half to give his side a 1-0 lead.

Salah, who already enjoys legendary status at Anfield, reached the milestone in his 162nd Premier League game.

The prolific frontman scored his first two goals as a 22-year-old for Chelsea. He made 13 top-flight appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge.

He has gone on to make 149 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, notching a further 98 times.

Despite his impressive achievement, Salah was still some way behind the player who reached the milestone the quickest.

Unsurprisingly that honour fell to the Premier League’s record goalscorer of all-time, Alan Shearer.

Shearer remarkably struck 100 top-flight goals in just 124 games during his spell with Blackburn Rovers.

The former England captain eventually moved to hometown club Newcastle United and racked up a total of 260 Premier League goals in 441 appearances for both clubs.

Harry Kane was the second fastest player to strike 100 Premier League goals after he achieved the feat in 141 games.

The Tottenham man has won the top-flight golden boot three times and has been tipped to break Shearer’s all-time scoring record.

Remarkably Kane failed to win the golden boot in his most prolific season. The 28-year-old found the back of the net 30 times during the 2017/18 campaign, but lost out to Salah’s 32.

Sergio Aguero notched his 100th goal in his 147th game, while Thierry Henry hit his century in his 160th game.

Salah beat Robbie Fowler to the milestone by quite some way after the former Liverpool striker took 175 games to reach the 100.

The top 10 is littered by Premier League superstars of years gone by, with Les Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Andy Cole and Robin van Persie completing the list.

Salah has become the 30th player to score 100 times in the Premier League, with Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku joining Kane and Salah as the only current players to be on the list.

Matt Le Tissier only just made his way onto the list after hitting his century during Southampton’s final game of the 2000/01 season against Arsenal.

The midfielder only ever played four more top-flight games for the Hampshire club.
