Liverpool are tempted to make an offer for Lyon's midfield star, Houssem Aouar, who has previously been heavily linked to Arsenal and Tottenham before this summer.
Aouar impressed against Manchester City during last season's Champions League – when the French side dumped out the English champions – and he looked set to join Arsenal last summer.
However, the French U21 international opted to stay in France, but several Premier League clubs are still interested in his services.
And, according to ESPN, Liverpool are weighing up the options of launching a bid for the young midfielder – as they look to bolster the middle this summer.
Liverpool have been in the market for a midfielder since Georginio Wijnaldum – whose contract had expired – left for PSG earlier this summer.
Aouar has emerged as a surprise target, however, ESPN are reporting that the Reds have been following Aouar's progress for a while, and Jurgen Klopp's side could make a move for the player.
However, there are still frosty relationships between the two parties following the failed Nabil Fekir move between the two in 2018.
Lyon could be forced to sell Aouar due to the ongoing financial crisis in Ligue 1.
