Transfer update: Latest on Ozil, Coman and Pelle
Liverpool’s hopes of signing Arsenal teenager Folarin Balogun this month may need to be placed on hold with Championship side Swansea City said to be interested in taking the forward on loan. Balogun has been heavily linked with the Reds in recent weeks with his contract at the Gunners set to expire at the end of the season.
It has been reported that Liverpool may be looking to land the 19-year-old for a nominal fee before the transfer deadline, with the prospect of Balogun signing an extension at Arsenal looking increasingly unlikely.
With the January window now in full swing, he is also able to speak to foreign clubs regarding a free transfer ahead of next season.
However, it appears as if the Championship could become his next destination with Swansea showing a keen interest in completing a loan deal until the end of the season.
Football Insider has suggested that the Welsh club have already contacted Arsenal regarding Balogun’s availability, with the report claiming that their interest is ‘concrete’.

Swansea’s pursuit of the forward comes after a temporary deal for Southampton starlet Michael Obafemi was scuppered when the 20-year-old suffered a muscular injury in training.
Balogun, who is yet to make his Premier League debut for Arsenal, has scored two senior goals for the club this season in Europa League action.
Boss Mikel Arteta revealed last month that he is keen to keep the youngster in north London, claiming that the Gunners are pushing hard to resolve the issues preventing a deal from being agreed.
“He’s done really well,” Arteta told reporters after the victory over Dundalk. “Every minute he’s been on that field he’s been superb.
“Today he looked a threat again. He scored a goal, he set up another one and he looked really lively on the pitch.
“We’re having some discussions with the player. He knows that we want to retain him at the club. We know the length of his contract at the moment is an issue but we’re trying to resolve it in the best possible way.
“We want him to stay. He said to me he wants to stay at the club so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”
Balogun could be in line to feature for Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash with Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
