Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds ‘begin talks’ with Lille star Sven Botman

The transfer window is now two days old and rumours continue to circulate suggesting Liverpool will strengthen before the end of the month.

The Reds saw bitter rivals Manchester United draw level with them at the top of the Premier League following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday.

And Jurgen Klopp may well be of the belief that he is in need of a few additions in the winter window in order to stave off the challenge of United.

His side are next in action on Monday when they take on Southampton, but will we see any moves in the market before then?

Here is a round-up of all the latest gossip coming out of Anfield…

Reds interested in Botman

Liverpool have reportedly began talks over a deal to bring Lille defender Sven Botman to Anfield this month.

The 20-year-old Dutchman has impressed in Ligue 1 since signing in the summer, and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

The likes of West Ham are also thought to be interested, but according to transfer guru Duncan Castles Liverpool have now stolen a march on their Premier League rivals, and believe they could be able to sign the player for around £15m.

Botman would add strength in depth to the Reds' centre of defence, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez still out injured.

Klopp dealt Alaba blow

German star David Alaba looks less certain to join, however, with Real Madrid believed to be closing in on his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is known to be a big fan of the versatile 28-year-old defender, and was keen for the club to sign him at the end of the season when his Bayern Munich contract expires.

However, according to Marca Madrid are close to convincing him to put pen to paper on a deal to move to the Bernabeu.

Alaba could be set to earn around £8.9m per year in the Spanish capital.

Recall for Boyes

Nineteen-year-old centre-back Morgan Boyes has been recalled early from his loan spell at Fleetwood Town.

Boyes joined the League One side in August but has struggled for minutes having made just two league appearances.

Liverpool clearly do not believe the move has been beneficial for Boyes, and he will now return to training with the Premier League side.

It remains to be seen if he is found an alternative loan move in the current transfer window.
