Manchester United could be set to land another midfielder this summer to accompany Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba with Juventus reportedly on the brink of terminating Sami Khedira’s contract. The Red Devils have already signed Donny van de Beek, but may add a more defensive minded player to their ranks.
According to Goal, Germany international Khedira has been told by new head coach Andrea Pirlo that he is not a part of his plans for the upcoming season.
Khedira featured just 18 times last term due to a number of injury problems.
The 33-year-old was forced to undergo knee surgery in December, before a tear in the abductor muscle ended his season from beyond the winter break.

Instead of keeping him on their books as a back up option or looking to sell him, it’s thought that Juventus want to get him off their wage bill as soon as possible, which could free up around £5.5m this season.
That would prime Khedira for a move to United, who have had him on their radar for some time now.
The Red Devils made a deadline day attempt to sign the German while he was at Real Madrid, but then-manager Carlo Ancelotti ensured he stayed in the Spanish capital.
Were Khedira to move to Old Trafford, though, he would have to hope fans forgive him for his slamming comments of their treatment of fellow countryman Bastian Schweinsteiger while Jose Mourinho was in charge.
