Transfer update: Latest on Man Utd, Dybala and Jordan
Manchester United defender Brandon Williams and winger Daniel James could be set to leave the club on loan during this month’s transfer window, according to reports. The pair have struggled for game time in the Premier League so far this season with just six top flight appearances between them.
Williams, who is a product of United’s academy, featured regularly for the first team last season but has not been as heavily involved this time around.
Summer signing Alex Telles has often been preferred to deputise at left-back with first-choice starter Luke Shaw having made the position his own.
Meanwhile, James has failed to hold down a spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side since his £16million move from Swansea City at the beginning of last season.
The imminent arrival of exciting teenager Amad Diallo from Atalanta could diminish his chances of playing even further.
United’s hierarchy believe that the pair would benefit from temporary spells away from Old Trafford, and Solskjaer is expected to lay down his transfer plans with both players before the end of the window, according to FourFourTwo.

It is claimed that Williams and James are still highly rated at United and any loan move would be in order to benefit their own development, rather than a sign that they may be moved on in the near future.
Plenty of clubs have already been linked with the pair, with German side Bayer Leverkusen said to be keen on taking Williams along with United’s Premier League rivals Southampton.
James is also reportedly being tracked by a number of potential suitors, with three clubs from England’s top flight rumoured to be considering a January swoop for the Welshman.
Leeds, Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all names that have been mentioned in connection with the 23-year-old in recent months.
Solskjaer revealed his admiration for James after his impressive performance in the victory over Marcelo Bielsa’s side, citing his blistering speed as evidence of his potential to become a hugely important player for United.
“He’s proven time and time again how he can improve our performances at times with his exceptional pace,” he said after the final whistle at Old Trafford.
Williams has also received praise from Solskjaer, with the Norwegian boss claiming last month that the defender is beginning to show signs of a return to form after a difficult start to the campaign.
However, he conceded that a January loan move could be on the cards.
“Brandon has done really well since he came into the team,” Solskjaer told the Metro. “He had a slow start to the season for different reasons. I think he’s now coming back to himself.
“I can see more Brandon being Brandon again. I’ve enjoyed seeing him, I’ve enjoyed him more in training. He’s played a couple of under-23s games, so he’s been more involved.”
When quizzed on the possibility of a loan switch, Solskjaer revealed: “That’s something we’ll look at in January, but we highly rate Brandon so whoever’s interested they’re not wrong.”
