Man Utd fans on Twitter were left unsurprised by Fred's fatal blunders against Leicester – insisting they have been coming for weeks.

The Brazilian midfielder received the ball on the edge of the penalty area in the first half, but instead of finding a team mate, played a pass right into the path of Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Leicester forward was a grateful recipient and skipped around United goalkeeper Dean Henderson to send the Foxes 1-0 up in the contest.

United equalised through Mason Greenwood, but Leicester retook the lead in the second-half when poor tracking from Fred allowed Youri Tielemans to steal in and make it 2-1.

Red Devils fans were less than impressed with Fred's performance and let their feelings known on social media.

One wrote: "Abysmal from Fred, who's been doing his utmost to play Leicester in the last five minutes or so. Howler. #mufc"

While another added: "Fred isn’t good enough, he never has been and he never will be. We need to invest in CMs."

A third chimed in with: "Been saying it since day one. Never winning anything with players like Fred. Zero ability"

Others claimed "it has been coming for weeks", while another joked: "The best part about international break, don’t have to see Fred play football for two weeks."

Fred has made 110 appearances for United since his £52million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 but has failed to convince fans in his time at Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, the 28-year-old has remained a trusted member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team this term, featuring 37 times in all competitions.
