Manchester United stars Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial apparently have ‘resentment’ towards Alexis Sanchez’s enormous wages and it is an issue Ed Woodward must solve before he can bring in Jadon Sancho.
United are trying to negotiate a fee with Borussia Dortmund to sign the England international.
The Bundesliga side are not budging from their £108million valuation which is causing tension behind the scenes.
A package consisting of many instalments and add-ons is being put together by the Red Devils.
Personal terms are thought to not be an issue as the 20-year-old is keen on returning to the Premier League, three years after he left Manchester City.
However, Woodward has to solve an in-house issue before he can splash the cash on one of the world’s most highly-rated stars.
According to the MEN, Pogba and Martial are furious about the huge salary that Alexis Sanchez takes home.
The Chilean has been a major flop since arriving from Arsenal in January 2018 but still takes home around £400,000-a-week.
The attacker has been out on loan to Inter Milan this season but if he returns to Old Trafford there could be friction between the stars.
Woodward has a plan to offload Sanchez as Inter are in talks over making the move permanent.
No fee is expected to be made but the Serie A side will cover all of the 31-year-old’s salary.
That should ease the frustration of Pogba and Martial as they will not feel under-valued.
Most of the budget spent on Sanchez will be reinvested in Sancho – but that is not expected to disrupt the harmony of the team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about his side’s move for Sancho yesterday but he remained coy in his response.
“This transfer window is a long one,” the Norwegian said. “Every transfer takes its course.
“It is what it is, so if there is any news we will update you.”
