Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho could hand fierce rivals Manchester City a major transfer boost for the summer window.
The deal that is expected to see Sancho arrive at Old Trafford is edging closer, with the Red Devils remaining in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
The winger has starred in the Bundesliga since he moved to Signal-Iduna Park in 2017, scoring 37 goals and notching 47 assists in the Bundesliga over the past three seasons.
The 21-year-old also won his first piece of silverware this term, lifting the DFB-Pokal after scoring two goals in the final against RB Leipzig last month.
Sancho’s impressive performances for Dortmund saw him marked out as a target for United, who have been looking to find a solution to their problem right winger position.
They attempted to sign the England international last year, but the move broke down due to Dortmund’s £100million asking price.
But that asking price is set to be slashed this summer, with the two clubs currently negotiating over the fee.
It appears that the fee could be in the region of £80m, though there is some disagreement over the add-ons to the deal.

If United do indeed complete the transfer deal, they could also have the consequence of handing City a major boost for the summer window.
That is because the Manchester Evening News report that City are entitled to 15 per cent of any fee.
That figure is thanks to the fact that Dortmund signed Sancho from City back in September 2017, with Pep Guardiola’s side inserting a sell-on clause into the transfer.
Should the winger’s move to United go through for the reported £82m fee, that means that City will be entitled to £12.3m.
While not a figure that could bring in a star name, that money could go into Guardiola’s transfer kitty, with the City boss keen to conduct a major squad rebuild this summer.
