Manchester United have launched an enquiry to Real Madrid over the availability of Vinicius Jr – amid reports suggesting they have missed out on a deal to sign Jadon Sancho.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set his sights on a move for Sancho this summer, yet Borussia Dortmund are not prepared to sell their star man for anything less than £108million.

United have also now missed the German club’s deadline of August 10 to wrap up the deal, having failed with a lower starting offer that included a number of add-ons and instalments.

Dortmund want their full asking price paid upfront, which the Red Devils fear they cannot afford following the coronavirus crisis.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central , United have since made contact with Madrid about the possibility of signing Vinicius instead this summer.

It is believed they are willing to table “good money” to prise him away from the Bernabeu, where he has just under five years remaining on his current contract.

However, the Brazilian is said to have snubbed United’s advances and instead remains determined to fight for his place in Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Despite registering just five goals and four assists in the 2019/20 campaign, Zidane is reportedly an admirer of Vinicius, while the club are also uninterested in selling him.

He has spent three years as a Madrid player since completing a £42million switch from Brazilian side Flamengo in 2017 – a deal which made him the most expensive Under-19 player of all time.

His debut would come over a year later against Atletico Madrid, however, after being loaned back to Flamengo until the summer of 2018.
