Manchester United retain transfer interest in Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, it has been claimed. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may not be able to afford the England international this summer. And that represents a blow, especially with the Red Devils keen to catch up to Manchester City next term.
United first tried to sign Sancho back in the summer transfer window of 2017, back when Jose Mourinho was manager.
However, they were gazumped by Borussia Dortmund on that occasion with the Bundesliga giants luring him to the Westfalenstadion with the guarantee of first team football.
United thought about going for Sancho in 2019 but, ultimately, focused on other areas of their squad after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
And, just last summer, they again missed out.
The Red Devils aggressively pursued a deal for the England international yet, in the end, believed his £108million asking price to be too steep.

Yet journalist Sam Pilger has claimed interest from United in Sancho remains.
However, at a time where the club are hoping to strengthen in multiple areas, it’s claimed they only have enough money for one marquee signing.
He wrote on Twitter: “Sancho remains an #MUFC target but the club are still undecided on their priorities for the summer, aware they also need to add a holding midfielder, centre-back and striker.
“There is probably only the budget for one marquee signing.”
He then added: “Sancho will be available for cheaper than last year, but United could pass on him if they decide to invest the majority of their budget in, for instance, a striker, and persist with Greenwood on the right wing.”

Sancho isn’t United’s only target ahead of the summer transfer window.
They’re also big admirers of his Borussia Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland, who has scored 21 goals from 21 Bundesliga matches this term.
His arrival won’t be straightforward, however, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona also in the running.
United admire Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, who could leave the Bernabeu this summer.
And the likes of Jules Kounde and Ben White are also under consideration when it comes to bolstering their backline at the end of the season.
A holding midfielder is also being eyed.
And United trio Solskjaer, John Murtough and Darren Fletcher all believe Declan Rice would be a good addition on that front.
However, West Ham have already insisted they’ll demand a fee in the region of £100million to let their prized asset go.
And, speaking recently, Solskjaer warned fans that the coronavirus crisis will likely have a big impact on their transfer business this summer.
“[The pandemic] is definitely affecting everyone in football. Of course the lack of income, the finances have affected everyone,” he said.
“We have to be realistic and responsible in the way we do our business both on and off the pitch. There are improvements on the training ground, stadium – we have to look at the whole picture.
“Where can we spend the money? And how much is there? It’s just the real world now. It has changed.”
He then added: “You can look at it different ways [with a] rebuild. We also have players in the academy that we now can maybe give opportunities.
“All clubs in the world are going through the same situation so it’s no different for other clubs than for us.
“I think there’s just going to be less and less transfers happening in the world of football with all these changes.”
