Michael Owen’s Premier League predictions including Man Utd and Liverpool

Michael Owen believes Liverpool will end their poor run of form by earning a victory over Burnley, but doesn't expect an easy evening for the reigning champions.

Liverpool are currently four games without a win in the Premier League and three without a goal following their most recent stalemate against Man Utd.

Jurgen Klopp's front three are under scrutiny after several tired displays, with pressure now on to overturn recent results in order to keep pace with their title rivals.

But Owen predicted his old club would pass the test at Anfield against Sean Dyche's organised side in a slender 1-0 scoreline.

He told BetVictor: "I think the Reds will have to be patient, but I would be surprised if they drew another blank with the talent they have on the pitch.

"With that in mind, I’m going for a narrow home win."

United still top the table, three points ahead of Liverpool, but now have Man City over their shoulder to consider.

A tricky challenge awaits the league leaders too as they head to Craven Cottage to face a Fulham side who have given both Tottenham and Chelsea a tough battle in the last week.

Owen doesn't expect any issues for United on their travels, though, and tips them to continue their impressive run on the road.

"Away day specialists Manchester United executed their game plan to perfection at Anfield on Sunday. They could’ve left with all 3 points but overall, they’ll be pleased with the outcome," he said.

"They take on a Fulham side that narrowly lost out to Chelsea, however, despite that defeat they have made noticeable improvements over the last month or so.

"That said, United are undefeated in their last 16 away matches in the Premier League I cannot see them slipping up here."

Elsewhere in the midweek fixtures, in-form City welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad looking to make it six wins in six.

"I think [Villa] will be happy to give up territory to City in the hope they can sucker-punch them on the counter," Owen said.

"I do believe those tactics could work for Villa to a certain extent; however, City are playing too well just now to be overlooked and I think they’ll notch up another win in their quest for top spot."

Owen also forecasts a win for West Ham against Sam Allardyce's West Brom, while the big tie of the week is at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea take on Leicester.

Who will win the title this season? Have your say below.

"This one has the potential to be a cracker," Owen said as he tipped a 1-1 draw. "Leicester welcome Chelsea fresh from a winning against a decent, albeit not at full strength, Southampton side.

"Chelsea are beginning to pick up again after their slump over the festive period. They were well worth their 1-0 away to Fulham at the weekend and should take confidence from that.

"This one could be tight, and I reckon if you were to offer both managers a point just now, they’d probably take it."
