Marc Roca will join Leeds United in July, after an agreement was agreed between the Premier League side and Bayern Munich.

Spanish midfielder Roca has become Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch’s third signing of the summer, and will arrive at Elland Road in July.

A former Spain Under-21 international, the 25-year-old has joined on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee from the Bavarian giants, reported to be £10.4million.

Marc Roca has struggled to make an impact at Bayern Munich under Julian Naglesmann

Roca told Leeds fans via a club statement: ‘It’s a new experience and a new challenge for me. Leeds United gave me the chance and the opportunity. I will give everything and give my best.

‘Everyone told me the Premier League is the best league in the world and the history of Leeds United is amazing, I hope we can do good things here.

‘I have spoken with Junior Firpo, I played with him in the Spanish U21 national team, now it’s time to talk with Rodrigo and Diego Llorente as well. Then I can meet all my new teammates and I can’t wait to start playing!

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has been busy and Roca becomes his third signing this summer

‘Junior told me it’s an incredible club with an amazing atmosphere in the stadium and that the teammates here are incredible, the locker room is incredible and for that I am very happy.’

Roca, who won caps for Spain at Under-19 and Under-21 level, joined Bayern in October 2020 from Espanyol, where he played over 100 games, on a five-year deal which was due to expire in the summer of 2025.

But the deep-lying midfielder struggled to secure a starting place at Bayern under Julian Nagelsmann, with nine of his 15 Bundesliga appearances coming off the bench, playing only 24 games in two seasons.

Danish Rasmus Kirstensen and American Brenden Aaronson have joined from RB Salzburg

The Yorkshire club released a statement, saying: ‘Leeds United can today announce Marc Roca will join the club on July 1 2022 after an agreement was reached with FC Bayern Munich.

‘The 25-year-old will join on a four-year-contract running until the summer of 2026, for an undisclosed fee.’

Leeds’ first two summer signings, American striker Brenden Aaronson and Danish defender Rasmus Kristensen, both joined from Marsch’s former club Red Bull Salzburg for undisclosed fees, reported to be £24.7m and around £10m respectively.
