Bayern Munich will be without Thomas Muller for BOTH legs of their Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool .
The Germany World Cup winner was given a straight red card for a ‘kung-fu kick’ challenge on Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico in last month’s 3-3 draw in Amsterdam in Bayern’s final match of the group stages.
Muller was initially set to only miss the first leg of the tie at Anfield on February 19, but will now miss both legs of the game against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, Bayern have indicated that they will appeal the decision.
Liverpool will be without Virgil van Dijk for the first leg of the tie after he picked up a booking against Napoli.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp called the draw against Bayern ‘difficult’ last month.
"It was clear it would be difficult [and] they are obviously a top side," he said.
"For me it’s nice, going to Germany. But it’s just the draw. So we have now time to prepare the game, a lot of time obviously, and hopefully we have all our players available then.
"It will be a tough one, an interesting one, and I am looking forward to it.
