Mauricio Pochettino is set for his long-awaited return to football with Paris Saint Germain – and will immediately weigh up a loan move for Dele Alli.

Thomas Tuchel’s sacking as PSG boss was confirmed on Tuesday morning with Pochettino in advanced talks to replace the German.

With the transfer window reopening on Friday, the Argentine will have an immediate opportunity to improve his squad.

Alli has long been a transfer target for PSG having failed with three separate loan offers for the attacking midfielder in the summer.

Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that the Ligue 1 club were preparing to return for Alli next month believing Tottenham are finally ready to let him leave.

Pochettino knows Alli well from their time working successfully together at Tottenham.

But it remains to be seen, despite a firm willingness from PSG officials to revisit their move Alli, whether the transfer is now given the green light.

Alli established a reputation as one of the most promising young footballers in Europe under Pochettino’s tutelage – and there would be hope the 48-year-old can help reinvigorate the Spurs star’s career that has hit a roadblock under Jose Mourinho.

The South American, who has been on Manchester United’s radar as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in November 2019.
