PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to make Tottenham star Dele Alli his top midfield target this summer, according to reports. Pochettino wanted to sign Alli in January after the England international had fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho at Spurs. The 25-year-old’s start in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Sheffield United was just his third in the Premier League this season.

Alli undoubtedly played his best football at Tottenham under Pochettino.

Spurs ultimately blocked the former MK Dons star’s exit in January despite his desire to move to Paris.

Tottenham are on the search for a permanent successor to Mourinho.

The new Spurs boss would likely have say in whether he wants to keep Alli at the club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Pochettino remains interested in signing Alli and is prioritising his capture in the summer.

Romano says PSG are set to test the new Spurs boss’ resolve with a bid.

“Yes Dele Alli would be the first target for Paris Saint-Germain in the midfield,” Romano told CBS.

“Also in the summer we are also talking about Mbappe and Neymar’s contracts, but at the moment we know that also Paris Saint-Germain are looking for a midfielder.

“They want Dele Alli, he was really close in January but the president of Tottenham Daniel Levy decided to keep the player.

“But we know the relationship between Pochettino and Dele Alli, he was amazing at Tottenham with him and that’s why Pochettino’s pushing to have him in the summer.

“Let’s see what Tottenham will decide and let’s see who will be the new coach of Tottenham who will be the key to decide for the club if keeping Dele Alli or letting him leave the club [sic].

“But for sure Pochettino will push again because he wants strongly Dele Alli [sic].”

Alli played 78 minutes of the comfortable win over the already-relegated Blades at the weekend.

Spurs interim boss Ryan Mason explained Alli’s inclusion after the match, saying it was a reward for a good week on the training field.

“Dele’s had an excellent training week,” Mason said.

“I feel like he’s stood out and I want to reward him for that.

“He’s shown a hunger to compete in training. He’s fit and I know what he’s capable of.”
