Mauricio Pochettino set PSG fans’ tongues wagging on New Year’s Day after he joined Instagram to post a rare photo of himself and his family.
The former Tottenham manager is closing in on his next managerial role with Ligue 1 giants PSG, with fans desperately awaiting confirmation of the appointment.
The 48-year old remains in negotiations over the finer details of his contract with PSG officials and is expected to take formal charge next week ahead of their game with Saint-Etienne.

But rather than confirm his next move, Pochettino has instead signed up for an Instagram account to wish his supporters a Happy New Year.
With 2021 just a few hours old, the Argentine posted a picture of himself, his wife Karina, their two sons Sebastiano and Maurizio and dog Sansa – who has an Instagram account of his own.
In the festive snap, Pochettino’s sons are holding a cushion each, spelling out the words ‘HAPPY 2021’.
In a follow-up post Pochettino recorded a video message for his fans, but there was no sign of a hint about his next move, with the ex-Spurs man instead just giving his best wishes at the start of a new year.
It is expected to be a big 2021 for Pochettino as he closes in on his next managerial move, 14 months on from his sacking at White Hart Lane.
PSG fans are fully in favour of Pochettino’s arrival following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel on Christmas Eve, with one commenting: ‘We are waiting for you in Paris.’
At Spurs, Pochettino got to Champions League final and PSG desire European success
The Argentine also played for PSG during his own football career between 2001 and 2003
Underneath his first Instagram post, another Pochettino fan wrote: ‘Champions League winners 2021. In Poch we trust, welcome to PSG.’
After years of domestic dominance, Pochettino’s main aim at PSG would be to secure European success, which he very nearly managed at Spurs by taking them to the Champions League final back in 2019.
Pochettino has been linked with moves for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and teammate Dele Alli but his former club are adamant neither will be leaving in January.
Alli has grown particularly frustrated under Jose Mourinho. He has been reduced to a peripheral role and has been wrestling to rediscover his form.

A move to PSG, even on a temporary basis, would be considered a welcome change of environment by Alli but Tottenham remain reluctant to let him go with the amount of fixtures they face and injuries mounting.
Lloris also remains pivotal to Mourinho’s plans.
Indeed, PSG are also understood to have made early soundings regarding Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak for the summer.
