Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has admitted that he would like to bring Jude Bellingham to the French capital in the not-too-distant future. The teenage playmaker has been one of England’s standout performers in the middle of the park at the World Cup and earned plenty of plaudits after running the show against Senegal on Sunday evening.

Bellingham is said to be a target for several top European clubs, with Liverpool and Real Madrid said to be the most likely contenders for his signature next summer as things stand. However, it seems as though PSG could be preparing to join the race to snap him up, with Al-Khelaifi confirming his interest in signing Bellingham in an interview with Sky Sports.

“Amazing player, what a player,” he said. “Obviously, England are lucky to have him. He’s one of the best players in the tournament, you see how it’s his first World Cup and he’s calm, relaxed and confident, amazing.

“That’s what everyone wants [to sign him]. I’m not going to hide it, but I respect his club. If we want to talk to him, we will talk to the club first.”

PSG will certainly have no shortage of funds to pursue a move for Bellingham in the summer if they decide to firm up their interest in his services, although Liverpool and Real Madrid will be hoping to sell their projects to him in order to win the race for themselves. The player himself is likely to have the final say in where his future lies, with no release clause having been inserted into his contract with Borussia Dortmund and his deal set to run until the summer of 2025 as things stand.

Bellingham is known to be keenly admired by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has previously hinted at an interest in bringing him to the club if the opportunity arises in the near future. One-time Reds striker Peter Crouch recently claimed that Bellingham would be the perfect signing for his old club next summer, with the Merseyside giants able to benefit from his all-round quality and sky-high potential to develop into one of the world’s best players.

“Liverpool feel like they are due a big one, and you’re possibly looking at something extra in midfield,” said Crouch when quizzed on the possibility of Liverpool striking a deal to land Bellingham.

“Jude Bellingham would fit in perfectly, as long as it is not to the detriment of Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, who have suffered cruel luck with injuries. It’s not been a settled midfield for a while and those places are up for grabs.”

A move to Real Madrid could be another tempting option for Bellingham, though, if he gets the opportunity to be part of a formidable trio alongside Edouardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni over the coming seasons. Former England goalkeeper David James has already warned Liverpool that Bellingham would find it difficult to turn down such a transfer as a result of his ability to thrive in Spain and help Los Blancos to win more Champions League titles in the near future.

“I think if Real Madrid came calling, as much as I’d love to see him in the Premier League, I’m sure that would be a move that he’d greatly accept,” James told GGRecon back in September. “I’m sure Dortmund will be upset that they’ve lost three of their best players in a two-year period. The world is Jude Bellingham’s oyster.”
