Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the frontrunners to sign Lionel Messi following his shock departure from Barcelona on Thursday evening. But, if their quest to take the 34-year-old to the French capital fails, they have Paul Pogba and another Manchester United star in their sights.
Messi sensationally rocked the football world this week when it was announced that he would depart the Nou Camp after 21 years.
The blockbuster star had been widely expected to sign a new deal to remain at Barca for the next five years.
PSG are building a stellar squad under boss Mauricio Pochettino and the capture of Messi would be a major coup for the club.
Messi has lifted a plethora of personal and club trophies during his time in Spain, winning the Ballon d’Or no fewer than six times and the Champions League four times.
But if PSG can’t get the deal for Messi done, they will apparently turn their attentions to two Man Utd stars.

The Ligue 1 club have been linked with Pogba all summer and Pochettino is keen to help the midfielder rediscover his best form in his homeland.
Pogba is out of contract next summer so United could be forced to sell during the current transfer window to avoid the player leaving for free.
If Pogba did make the move back to France, he could be joined by team-mate Jesse Lingard, according to Le10sport.
Lingard fell out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but enjoyed a stunning loan spell with West Ham last term.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals in 16 appearances for the Hammers and also contributed five assists.
David Moyes was keen to take Lingard to London Stadium on a permanent basis but the player has apparently expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
And following the player’s return to form, Solskjaer confirmed Lingard was in his plans for the coming season.
“He came seven or eight days later than the rest but he’s a naturally fit boy,” said the United boss.
“He’s a man. He played with a few boys but he’s one of the men.
“Jesse has come back [and] been bright. He wants to fight for his place and there’s nothing better than seeing players want to fight for their place.
“What he did towards the end of last season, that’s the true Jesse.
“That’s what we know he’s capable of and, for us, I think we saw towards the end that we lacked some options at times and Jesse is in the plans at the moment.”
