Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole agree Chelsea must sign Erling Haaland this summer

BT Sport pundits Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole agree that Chelsea should go all out to sign Erling Haaland this summer.

Borussia Dortmund star Haaland has been linked with a move to a European giant with Manchester City and Real Madrid believed to be keen.

Chelsea have struggled in front of goal recently and Thomas Tuchel has already overseen more goalless draws in the Premier League than Frank Lampard did during his reign.

And Cole suggested that Blues chiefs have already got their eye on Haaland ahead of a busy summer transfer window.

“They need one player for me, Haaland. He’s on the wish-list,” former Chelsea ace Cole told BT Sport.

“He’s a No.9. There’s so much in this squad, there’s quality in all areas, such a strong squad.

“You just need that one sparkle of magic, that No.9, that focal point and it will change this club getting back to the glory days of challenging for the title regularly.”

And Ferdinand agreed, adding: “If they [Chelsea] want to be Champions League contenders, Premier League contenders, then Giroud, obviously when Frank was here and now under this management it’s the same, he’s been a bit-part player, it’s his age, obviously.

“He’s not a young Giroud, he’s at a different stage of his career. I don’t think he expects to play every game.

“I think Tammy will be putting himself in there but again he has to get fit and stay fit.

“But I think the levels of this club at the moment, I think they’ll go into the market to buy an out-and-out No.9.

“Haaland is the one who’s on everyone’s lips, he’s the player in form.
