Romelu Lukaku has been in excellent form at Inter Milan this season, netting 21 goals in 33 Serie A appearances for the Italian giants. Inter were confirmed as Scudetto champions at the weekend, ending an 11-year wait for a league triumph.

As a result of Lukaku’s excellent form, the forward has been attracting interest from elsewhere.

Chelsea are one of the clubs said to be interested in Lukaku’s services and recent reports have claimed the Blues will have to break their transfer record if they want to re-sign him.

However, Lukaku is happy at Inter and he has spoken about how much he enjoys playing for manager Antonio Conte, saying he would “fight to the death for him.”

Speaking to La Tribune, Lukaku revealed how Conte had helped him improve his game.

“I would fight to the death for him,” the Belgian international said.

“I couldn’t join him at Chelsea, but I always said I would play for him the day I left Manchester United.

“Conte told me very directly: ‘If you don’t work in training you won’t play, it’s essential that you know how to play with your back to goal’.

“It’s important to meet people who tell you the absolute truth to help you improve.”

Lukaku has three years remaining on his current deal with Inter and he certainly seems content to stay.

Speaking to Sky Italia after Inter were confirmed as Serie A champions, Lukaku said: “Last year was good too, but this was the best of my career.

“It’s wonderful and I hope to continue like this.

“I want to thank everyone, I am truly so happy.”

He then added: “I am so happy for all the Inter fans in the world, for the team, the staff, the President and everyone.

“It was a wonderful year for us, I am truly proud to play for Inter.

“I wanted to come out here and celebrate along with the people. I told my friend this was the best way to experience it, to be there with the fans.

“For me and many of my teammates, this is our first league title, so it’s a moment we wanted to share with them.”
