Roy Keane left looking ‘far less threatening’ as he shows new look on Sky Sports

Roy Keane's fresh look on Sky Sports punditry duty has left viewers far less frightened of the Manchester United hero – having got rid of his bushy moustache.

The former Republic of Ireland midfielder had been rocking a thick stash into the New Year having usually picked between clean shaven or full-beard – but has now reverted to the former.

Fans instantly spotted Keane's change in style before watching United's Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg get underway – with some even missing the whiskers.

Keane had the moustache during Arsenal's win over United at the weekend – and we're not sure what he would've made of some of the comparisons.

One viewer said: "Why’s Keane still rocking that 70’s porn star moustache?" A second chimed in with: "What does Roy Keane look like with that narcos moustache?"

Another fan added: "Roy Keane’s moustache is verging on a hairy slug. It’s impressive and odd in equal measure." A fourth user joked: "No mirrors in Roy Keane’s house? That moustache."

Keane was known for his fearsome persona on the pitch and brought that into his punditry role after a few years as a manager.

Having warmed up in recent years, thanks in part to his partnership with Micah Richards, Keane doesn't mind poking fun at himself, as he did on Wednesday (January 25).

When looking a clash between the two sides during his playing days, Keane laughed after watching a replay of him being taking off at 4-1 down – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coming on and scoring four times.
