Sebastien Haller pictured in Ajax shirt for first time after £20m West Ham exit

Sebastien Haller has been pictured in an Ajax shirt for the first time since completing his £20million move from West Ham.

The Hammers only forked out £45million to prise Haller away from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019, but his debut season in east London did not got to plan.

In his first 35 appearances the French striker scored just seven goals, although he produced the same return in almost half the amount of games this season.

Nevertheless, West Ham chiefs have decided to cut their losses with their record signing and offload him to Ajax.

The Dutch outfit confirmed the signing of Haller on Friday morning and released pictures of their new signing in an Ajax shirt.

Haller will wear the No.22 jersey at the Johan Cruyff ArenA, where he has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract.

After sealing his move, the 28-year-old told Ajax TV: “This is a club where I can compete in the Champions League and chase titles every season and it's that winning mentality that suits me.”

Haller was one of several expensive signings made by former West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini before his sacking in December 2019.

New head coach Moyes is now trying to build his own squad at the London Stadium, also offloading Grady Diangana, Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill in the previous transfer window.

The Hammers also brought in Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Said Benrahma in the same window – three players who all impressed in the first half of the campaign.

Reports suggest Moyes is keen to bring in another striker to replace Haller in the January market, with Bournemouth’s Josh King a rumoured target.

Former star Marko Arnautovic has also been tipped to rejoin West Ham this month, who departed in 2019 to join Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG.

Arnautovic is said to be interested in returning to England, and a move back to the London Stadium could make sense for both parties.
