Sol Campbell reckons there is one England player who "will be remembered for a long time" ahead of the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 campaign.

The former Arsenal and Spurs centre-back has suggested that Manchester City defender John Stones will be well recalled by England fans in years to come.

Stones was a massive part of the City side that won the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season, as well as helping Pep Guardiola’s side to a Champions League final and an FA Cup semi-final.

The 27-year-old collected 14 clean sheets in 22 appearances in the league, forming a formidable partnership with Portugal centre-back Ruben Dias.

Campbell, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes at the launch of their new European Championships 5-a-side Bet, said: "John Stones is a player whose position I obviously know so well, and I feel like he's in such a great place in his career right now.

"Last season (2019/20 season) wasn't his absolute best but he's come on leaps and bounds over the last few years.

"In the box there are moments where he's going to have to defend and put his body on the line, but we also know he can attack and pass," added Campbell.

"He's just got to be switched on and make the difference for us at the back, because I feel like if he can get that balance right between attack and defence, then he can really help us go far in this competition and he'll be remembered for a really long time."

Stones also added five goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign, proving a real threat from set pieces.

Gareth Southgate will no doubt be hoping the defender can carry his form into the Euros, especially as set pieces were a huge part of England's success at the 2018 World Cup.

Campbell also reckons the Three Lions have a good chance at winning the Euros: "With the team we've got, and that home advantage, we've got to be a little bit confident."
