Tuchel slams Hudson-Odoi over attitude and energy in spiky Chelsea interview

Thomas Tuchel says he double-substituted Callum Hudson-Odoi in Chelsea's 1-1 draw away at Southampton after being left unimpressed with his "energy and attitude".

The 20-year-old was brought on at the half-time break in place Tammy Abraham, who endured a miserable opening 45 minutes after battling back from an ankle injury to earn a start at St Mary's.

But sensationally, Hudson-Odoi was only given just over 30 minutes in the game before he was hooked off again by a fuming Tuchel.

It was initially unclear whether he had sustained an injury on the south coast, but the Chelsea head coach soon confirmed that was not the case.

Tuchel was not happy with Hudson-Odoi or Abraham's performance on the day, firing shots at both men in his first spiky post-match interview as Chelsea head coach.

"No no, I’m not concerned about [Tammy], it was not an injury," he said.

"It was hard for him to show his quality and we were not happy with the last 20 metres.

"Tammy could not out his stamp on the game so we changed a little bit the formation.

"We brought in Hudson, but with Hudson I was not happy with the energy, the attitude and counter-pressing, so we decidied to take him off again, because we demand a lot.

"We demand 100 per cent and I got the feeling he was not right in this shape that he could help us.
