Jon Jones appears to be eager to take on new UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou though initially deleted a tweet saying “Let’s play baby”.
Ngannou is the new champ having beaten Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 on Saturday night, stopping him in the second round.
Jones is a pound for pound great and has been piling on the pounds in order to compete in the heavyweight division after dominating the light heavyweight division for the last decade.
UFC president Dana White suggested, tongue in cheek, that Jones moves down to 185 following Ngannou’s destruction of Miocic.
Jones hit back on Twitter, writing many posts, including one that read: “Go to 185? I didn’t gain all this weight for no reason.”
Though he has also deleted a couple of posts, swiftly getting rid of one that praised Ngannou’s performance.
It had read: “Francis looks great, if I’m being honest I wasn’t really impressed by Stipe. Tall challenge, let’s set something up.”
While another that Jones tweeted and deleted simply read: “Let’s play baby”.
Ngannou had spoken about potentially taking Jones having been crowned the new champion of the division.
He said: "In my opinion, Jon Jones is the greatest of all time in mixed martial arts
"Him moving up is going to be a challenge I will take. It'll be a very good challenge. … But this time I am the champ, he is coming up and looking for me. I am ready any time soon."
