Jamie Carragher couldn\u2019t believe how Ben Chilwell squandered a brilliant chance to score during Chelsea\u2019s win over Luton Town.<\/p>\n

Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Friday night \u2013 the first victory of the Mauricio Pochettino era.<\/p>\n
Raheem Sterling scored either side of the break before summer signing Nicolas Jackson got his first goal for the club in the closing stages, but it could have been even more with the Blues missing several great chances.<\/p>\n
Once such moment came shortly after half-time with the score at 1-0, as Chilwell drived into the box following a slick move and, though he had three defenders around him, all he needed to do was fire a shot past Luton keeper Thomas Kaminski.<\/p>\n
But extraordinary, the England left-back attempted to square the ball to Sterling, who was in a much worst position, only for his pass to be cleared behind for a corner.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old could not believe what he had done, and neither could anyone at Stamford Bridge, including Carragher.<\/p>\n
\u2018I can\u2019t believe what I\u2019ve just seen,\u2019 the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

\u2018We had just been talking about Ben Chilwell\u2019s role in an attacking sense and it looked like he was going to make me eat my words. But that was just bizarre!<\/p>\n
\u2018He drives through the middle and he is in the centre of the goal, unmarked. Unbelievable!<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s awful. It really is. Such poor decision making.<\/p>\n
\u2018Maybe he was reluctant to use his right foot, or lost his bearings a little? Just trying to find excuses as to why he wouldn\u2019t shoot there.<\/p>\n
\u2018The goal was right in front of him. If Luton get back into the game, that moment will certainly be looked at.\u2019<\/p>\n
Thankfully for Chilwell, the Hatters offered little in the way of attacking threat, with just one shot on target all game, with Carragher later adding: \u2018It will become a joke in the dressing room with the staff and the other players, but it could have been worse had Chelsea not gone on to win this game.\u2019<\/p>\n
