{"id":287934,"date":"2023-08-26T18:19:16","date_gmt":"2023-08-26T18:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=287934"},"modified":"2023-08-26T18:19:16","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T18:19:16","slug":"it-was-tough-for-him-mikel-arteta-sends-message-to-struggling-arsenal-star","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/soccer\/it-was-tough-for-him-mikel-arteta-sends-message-to-struggling-arsenal-star\/","title":{"rendered":"&#039;It was tough for him!&#039; Mikel Arteta sends message to struggling Arsenal star"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ArtetaHavertz-94b8.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Mikel Arteta has backed Kai Havertz to overcome a difficult start to his Arsenal career and win over the fans who already appear to be turning on the summer signing from Chelsea. <\/p>\n<p>Arsenal news, exclusives and analysis<\/p>\n<p>Eyebrows were raised when Arteta sanctioned a \u00a365million deal to sign a player who had largely underwhelmed during three turbulent years at Stamford Bridge. <\/p>\n<p>Havertz has largely operated in the position vacated by Granit Xhaka so far this season but has failed to come to terms with the demands of an unfamiliar role. <\/p>\n<p>After subdued displays against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, Havertz was again on the periphery during Saturday\u2019s 2-2 draw against Fulham and was substituted just 10 minutes into the second half. <\/p>\n<p>Asked if he felt the home crowd were already beginning to get on Havertz\u2019s back, Arteta said: \u2018I saw an action when he played backwards and he could\u2019ve turned.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2018But that\u2019s more the demands of everybody to play forward and impact the game in the final third because we need the urgency to win.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Pressed as to whether he remains confident that Havertz can win over his doubters, Arteta added: Yes I think so and I think he\u2019s done already really good things. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Today it was tough for him in certain moments. He got in great areas again today and the ball didn\u2019t arrive and a lot of situations he should\u2019ve scored a lot of goals already this season and that is the thing that is missing.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Arteta\u2019s side ultimately surrendered their 100% start to the season when they gifted Joao Paulinha a goal from a corner with three minutes remaining, having also conceded in the opening minute of an incident packed London derby.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have this situation a thousand times in football [for the first goal],\u2019 added Arteta. \u2018We gave the ball away in a really dangerous area and it was a really cool finish.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have to show another level of commitment and desire and \u2018over my dead body\u2019.
