For Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay, Sean Payton’s return to the sidelines after a one-year hiatus means he can steal some of his ideas.<\/p>\n
After the Broncos’ joint practice with the Rams on Thursday, McVay spoke of his utmost respect for Denver’s first-year coach. At the same time, McVay admitted that he plans to study Payton\u2019s offensive concepts for his benefit. \u201cI\u2019m not proud to admit that we\u2019ll do that from everybody,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Payton is regarded as one of the most brilliant offensive minds in the league, so McVay\u2019s comments shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise. McVay, who is entering his sixth season in Los Angeles, has admired Payton\u2019s consistency while learning to adapt and evolve.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy respect (for) him and some of these (coaches) is how hard it is to recreate yourself, but still have an identity (of) how you want to operate and adjust to your team,\u201d McVay said. \u201cI think that\u2019s always been a staple of Sean.\u201d<\/p>\n
McVay was \u201csuper impressed\u201d with the Broncos during the two-day joint practice. He thinks Denver will be a problem with their schemes and player alignment, which starts at the top with Payton.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a good thing for Broncos nation,\u201d McVay said.<\/p>\n
