Liverpool are reportedly set to receive a £129million offer for Mohamed Salah from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

The Saudi champions in recent days have prioritised signing the 31-year-old Reds forward. It emerged last week that the side, who already signed Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante this summer, were prepared to make Salah the highest-paid player in the country.

Now Al-Ittihad are preparing a Saudi record transfer for the Egyptian just weeks after rivals Al-Hilal paid Paris Saint-Germain £77m for Neymar Jr, according to CBS Sports.

The deal would involve Liverpool receiving £85m in up-front payments for their talisman, as well as an additional £44m in bonuses.

Liverpool’s stance, however, is understood to be unchanged. The Anfield club do not want to lose their all-time Premier League top goal-scorer with the season, especially with the season already underway due to fears it would disrupt Jurgen Klopp’s pursuit of a top-four finish.

Speaking on Friday, Jurgen Klopp said: "Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and essential for everything we do. If there would be something [an offer], the answer would be no.

Klopp’s comments came before Salah once again showed his worth with a brilliant assist for Darwin Nunez’s match-winner against Newcastle on Sunday. It marked the Egyptian ace’s third goal contribution in as many games to kick-off the campaign.

Yet despite their reluctance to let him go, it emerged on Sunday via Portuguese outlet A Bola that Liverpool had made contingency plans for if Salah leaves. The report stated wantaway Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has been eyed as the best option to succeed him.

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to splash between £60- 68m of the money they receive for Salah on the 23-year-old, who has registered 34 goals and 18 assists in La Liga since 2019.
