{"id":288173,"date":"2023-08-28T23:34:47","date_gmt":"2023-08-28T23:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=288173"},"modified":"2023-08-28T23:34:47","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T23:34:47","slug":"usa-captain-stacy-lewis-unveils-solheim-cup-team-featuring-rose-zhang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/golf\/usa-captain-stacy-lewis-unveils-solheim-cup-team-featuring-rose-zhang\/","title":{"rendered":"USA captain Stacy Lewis unveils Solheim Cup team featuring Rose Zhang"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>USA captain Stacy Lewis unveils her team to face Europe in the Solheim Cup with LPGA breakout star Rose Zhang getting the call up alongside World No. 1 Lilia Vu and No. 2 Nelly Korda<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>USA will take on Team Europe at Finca Cortesin in Spain, on September 22-24<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>Stacy Lewis enlisted the help of sports stars to announce the roster in a clip\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>USA captain Stacy Lewis unveiled her 12-player team to take on Europe at the Solheim Cup in Spain next month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LPGA breakout star Rose Zhang, along with Jennifer Kupcho, Danielle Kang, Andrea Lee and Lexi Thompson, were locked in Monday as the final automatic qualifiers for Team USA.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>World No. 1 golfer Lilia Vu, world No. 2 Nelly Korda, this year&#8217;s US Women&#8217;s Open winner Allisen Corpuz and Megan Khang had already been confirmed as members of the Stars and Stripes to take on Suzann Pettersen&#8217;s European team\u00a0at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain, on September 22-24.<\/p>\n<p>The USA team was rounded out with three captain&#8217;s picks, with\u00a0Ally Ewing, Cheyenne Knight and Angel Yin getting the call up from Lewis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lewis had a helping hand in announcing her roster thanks to some familiar faces, including those accustomed to success for the USA.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/20\/74806863-12454337-image-m-20_1693252555407.jpg\" height=\"436\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>USA captain Stacy Lewis unveiled her 12-player team to take on Europe at the Solheim Cup<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/20\/74806133-12454337-image-a-28_1693252736382.jpg\" height=\"414\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>LPGA breakout star Rose Zhang was locked in as an automatic qualifier on Monday<\/p>\n<p>Two-time women&#8217;s soccer World Cup winners Julie Foudy, Alex Morgan and Mia Hamm headlined a video unveiling the roster as they announced Vu, Korda, and Thompson respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa, who will also be representing the USA at the Ryder Cup next month, announced Danielle Kang will be making her fourth appearance at the Solheim Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Stanley Cup champion TJ Oshie and his two daughters, WWE star The Miz, and former NFL star Mike Golic also revealed members of the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The team includes the top seven golfers in the US Solheim Cup standings, with\u00a0<span>Thompson and Zhang making the squad as the two highest Americans in the Rolex Women&#8217;s World Golf Rankings who were not in the top seven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;These final days were definitely some of the hardest ones of my career, but I&#8217;m so proud to have Ally, Cheyenne and Angel on the 2023 U.S. Solheim Cup team,&#8217; Lewis said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;These three women earned their spots on this team, putting themselves into contention both with their play on the course and their teamwork off the course. Over the last year and a half, I&#8217;ve gotten to know all the U.S. players incredibly well and I&#8217;m honored to be their captain. We are going to have an incredible week at Finca Cortesin.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>This is Thompson&#8217;s sixth appearance in the Solheim Cup. Kang will represent the U.S. for the fourth time, with Ewing, Khang, Korda and Yin appearing on their third teams.
