A gang of men allegedly threatened to 'shoot' Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles during a city centre brawl.

According to the Daily Mail, the defender was involved in a violent altercation while on a night out with his younger brother and a friend. The alleged incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, August 20, shortly after the Magpies’ 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.

After returning to the north-east from the game, it is reported that Lascelles, his brother and the friend ventured into Newcastle city centre. It is claimed the trio had just left a nightclub when a man elbowed Lacelles' 19-year-old brother in the throat, with Lascelles stepping in the push the man away.

It is then alleged that a bottle was thrown in Lascelles’ direction, narrowly missing his head. A group of six to eight men are then said to have attacked the former Nottingham Forest centre-back. An onlooker told the Mail that Lascelles was ‘punched from all angles’.

His brother was allegedly left bleeding after being punched in the face while the friend was kicked in the head and left unconscious, requiring hospital treatment, it is claimed.

It is during the fracas that the group threatened to ‘shoot’ Lascelles and his brother, it is claimed. In a video obtained by the Mail, it is said Lascelles can be seen leaning over one of the alleged attackers, appearing to be appealing for calm, only to be punched in the face. Lascelles then reportedly responds by throwing a punch himself.

It is reported that Lascelles, who has made more than 200 appearances for the Magpies, acted in self-defence throughout the altercation. The Mail adds that Newcastle are aware of the incident and have seen the video. The club will reportedly deal with the matter internally.
