And what about Man United &#8216;diving&#8217;?: Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off , Mail Sport&#8217;s new podcast<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fans have taken to social media to question why Gary Neville was selected to commentate as Salford defeated Leeds\u00a0on penalties in the EFL Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The former Manchester United defender was selected as a co-commentator for ther Sky Sports broadcast the second round clash on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>But the decision raised eyebrows online, given the 48-year-old&#8217;s association with the League Two side.<\/p>\n<p>Neville has served as a co-owner of the Ammies since 2014 alongside fellow former United stars David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs Paul Scholes and Phil Neville.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Smith headed the hosts into the lead against their Championship opposition at the Peninsula Stadium, and Neville couldn&#8217;t hide his excitement, cheering into the microphone.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/22\/74849699-12458609-image-a-1_1693343430810.jpg\" height=\"393\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Fans have questioned why Gary Neville was selected to provide commentary for Salford&#8217;s EFL Cup clash with Leeds<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/22\/74849779-12458609-image-a-2_1693343495841.jpg\" height=\"333\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The pundit and his former Man United teammates have been co-owners of the League Two side since 2014<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/22\/74849811-12458609-image-a-3_1693343571130.jpg\" height=\"437\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Neville celebrated wildly on commentary as Matt Smith headed the hosts into the lead<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Neville&#8217;s inclusion in the commentary team proved a controversial one online, with fans questioning whether an owner could be impartial while commentating on his own team&#8217;s game.<\/p>\n<p>One fan wrote: &#8216;Bit mad having Gary Neville doing the commentary for a team that he part owns lol&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Another agreed: &#8216;Gary Neville commentating on Salford City v Leeds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So not only does his own club get the TV money that could have gone to, say, Tranmere v Leicester, but he also gets paid to commentate on it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Double your money I\u2019m sure that decision was well thought through&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A further fan wrote: &#8216;I don\u2019t like former players commentating on their teams games but it\u2019s not the end of the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Gary Neville on co-comms on the game involving a team he owns is ridiculous.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Another added: &#8216;Ex-Man United player and co-owner of Salford City Gary Neville being on co-commentary for a match between Salford City and Leeds United is&#8230;
