{"id":288589,"date":"2023-09-04T08:21:19","date_gmt":"2023-09-04T08:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=288589"},"modified":"2023-09-04T08:21:19","modified_gmt":"2023-09-04T08:21:19","slug":"greenwood-has-clause-allowing-getafe-to-send-him-back-to-man-united","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/soccer\/greenwood-has-clause-allowing-getafe-to-send-him-back-to-man-united\/","title":{"rendered":"Greenwood has clause allowing Getafe to send him back to Man United"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Mason Greenwood &#8216;has January break clause&#8217; allowing Getafe to send him back to Man United &#8211; after the Saudi Pro League were wary he was too toxic to sign<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Greenwood completed a season-long loan move to Getafe on deadline day<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Spanish side will be able to send Greenwood back to Man United in January<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Man United announced a mutual decision for Greenwood to leave last month\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mason Greenwood&#8217;s loan move to Getafe reportedly includes a break clause in the forward&#8217;s contract, which would enable the LaLiga side to send him back to Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood was confirmed as a Getafe player on Friday after completing a deadline day move.<\/p>\n<p>Man United had agreed to help Greenwood secure a move to continue his career, after the club announced last month that they had mutually agreed for the 21-year-old to leave.<\/p>\n<p>Their decision came after\u00a0Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted rape.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood was subsequently suspended by the club, however, in February the Crown Prosecution Service subsequently dropped the charges after key witnesses withdrew and new material came to light.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/08\/75031627-12477739-image-a-2_1693813276334.jpg\" height=\"621\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Getafe announced the loan signing of Mason Greenwood from Man United on deadline day<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/04\/08\/75031679-12477739-image-a-3_1693813331402.jpg\" height=\"449\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>A break clause will reportedly allow Getafe to send the forward back to Man United in January<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>United then concluded after their own investigation Greenwood did not commit the offences which he was charged with but decided that his future no longer remained at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood&#8217;s season-long loan move to Getafe could be cut short in January, with the Athletic reporting that the Spanish outfit can trigger a break clause.<\/p>\n<p>The break clause is standard in loan deals, but would allow Getafe to send Greenwood back to Man United if they are unhappy with how the move has developed.<\/p>\n<p>A club spokesperson defended the signing the forward by stating that Greenwood had been &#8216;declared innocent&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport revealed the Spanish club\u2019s interest in Greenwood ahead of the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish club will not be paying a fee for the English forward, but will cover a small contribution for his \u00a375,000-a-week wages for the duration of the loan.<\/p>\n<p>A domestic abuse charity in Spain has criticised Getafe&#8217;s decision to sign Greenwood, calling on the club to overturn its decision.<\/p>\n<p>Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas has defended the club, but admitted it was a &#8216;delicate situation&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is a very delicate situation to trivialise that issue,&#8217;\u00a0Bordalas said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Everyone knows what happened and appropriate measures were taken.
