Martin Brundle has admitted to being “disappointed” with both Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff for not giving Red Bull and Max Verstappen respect for their dominance over the past two years. Verstappen won a record 10th consecutive race at last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix with Red Bull now winning 24 of the last 25 races dating back to July last year.<\/p>\n
It’s an unprecedented stretch of dominance in F1 that is only set to be extended even further in the coming months. Ferrari, Aston Martin, McLaren and Mercedes have all tried and failed so far to catch Red Bull this year.<\/p>\n
Mercedes are currently winning the race to finish behind Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship with Hamilton and George Russell hoping to close the gap even more next year. Mercedes enjoyed their own stretch of dominance in F1 for eight years between 2014 and 2020, but said last weekend that their success was “different because we had two guys fighting against each other within the team”.<\/p>\n
Hamilton also downplayed Verstappen’s record, insisting he’s “no more impressed than when Michael [Schumacher] was leading, when Sebastian [Vettel] was leading when Kimi [Raikkonen] was driving, when Fernando [Alonso] was winning \u2013 it’s just the same”. Sky Sports pundit Brundle has now hit back at Hamilton and Wolff for refusing to pay their respects to Red Bull.<\/p>\n
