Manchester United are reportedly ‘willing to consider any offer’ for Donny van de Beek with Turkish clubs pushing for the midfielder’s signature. It’s been a disastrous few years for Van de Beek at Old Trafford ever since he was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 26-year-old arrived as a surprise signing back in 2020 as one of Europe’s most highly-rated attacking midfielders. But he was in direct competition with Bruno Fernandes, who was performing at the top of his game when Van de Beek was signed.

Three years on and the Dutchman has no future at Old Trafford now having been left out of United’s Champions League squad. He’s unlikely to make it into their Premier League squad either, which will be announced on September 13.

United were hoping to receive a fee for Van de Beek earlier this summer with interest from all over Europe. But clubs have shown a reluctance to take Van de Beek on with most European windows now closed.

Turkey now appears to be the midfielder’s best option to escape Old Trafford and United have set the bar extremely low in what they want for him. According to ESPN, United are willing to accept any offer for Van de Beek.

The Red Devils had been holding out for a fee, but are now prepared to let him leave on loan. Erik ten Hag seemingly has no desire to keep Van de Beek at the club – a far cry from when the two were working together at Ajax.

More info

The pair won the double with Ajax back in 2019 with Van de Beek scoring an impressive 17 goals in all competitions. He’s been unable to continue that goalscoring prowess in the Premier League with Turkey seemingly his last chance at finding regular football for the upcoming season.

Ten Hag gave Van de Beek a chance to resurrect his career at Old Trafford last season, calling on the midfielder to prove himself. “I’ve seen him better in the past,” Ten Hag said in November.

“But I think positioning-wise, he’s acting quite well. But he has to make that step up. I don’t think a loan (makes) sense. It’s either he fights… and proves himself, in this atmosphere in this environment, or he goes.”
