Bayern Munich chiefs have banned Thomas Tuchel from complaining about his squad and have asked the German manager to control his emotions after he was seen looking ‘perplexed’ following their defeat to Leipzig.

Tuchel was furious after Bayern’s 3-0 defeat to Leipzig in the Supercup and called his side’s performance ‘frightening’. He also hit out at his players for their ‘inexplicable’ form before claiming the club have ‘no starting point’.

Tuchel also complained about his squad depth during the summer transfer window – despite the fact the Bundesliga giants signed five players, including Harry Kane for a club record £100million deal from Tottenham.

As a result, a secret meeting took place between Tuchel and the Bayern Munich hierarchy – according to Bild. Both parties are said to have ‘admitted to making mistakes during the transfer window’.

However, the Bayern chiefs have told Tuchel that any problems going forwards should be solved ‘internally and less publicly’. The German manager is said to have taken their advice on board and the issue now seems to have been ‘resolved’.

The meeting came after Tuchel irritated the Bayern bosses with his ‘erratic’ behaviour. After their 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, Tuchel told reporters: ‘The squad is a bit thin, a bit small. We have six trained defensive players for a four-man chain, which is perfect.’

According to Bild, Tuchel’s ‘repeated negative statements’ annoyed Bayern chiefs as they felt his public demands were wearing thin.

Tuchel’s behaviour during the summer window was described as ‘erratic’ internally, with the names of many players brought into play and bosses feeling he was trying to be ‘too creative’.

One frustration they had was Tuchel’s push to sign Declan Rice, when they felt Kane was the priority given it was unlikely the club could sign both players during the summer window.

Bayern’s transfer committee felt that signing a No 6 was more important to Tuchel than a striker but after landing Kane, they accepted his demands and pushed for Joao Palhinha after the manager’s public demands.

The German club put in an initial offer of £47m though this was subsequently rejected by Fulham, who priced him at £90m initially. The move fell through as the London club were unable to find a replacement in time – not helped by the German window closing earlier than the English one.

Tuchel’s comments about the squad being thin came after the transfer window closed, and is said to have caused ‘total incomprehension among club management.

Despite the club’s frustrations with the manager, Bayern have a 100 per cent record this season with three consecutive victories in the Bundesliga.

In the Champions League, they have been drawn in a group alongside Manchester United, Galatasaray and Copenhagen.
