Eugenie Bouchard has been quick to join Serena Williams in taking a dig at Simona Halep on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Romanian two-time Grand Slam champion was suspended for four years after an anti-doping violation,\u00a0after being found with the forbidden roxadustat, a drug to treat anaemia, in her system.<\/p>\n
The former world No 1 has since appealed the decision and continues to plead her innocence, and claimed that she herself was ‘shocked’ with the announcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, her former rivals have been quick to speak out against the adverse findings, with Williams taking to social media on Tuesday evening, before Bouchard followed suit a day later.<\/p>\n
Bouchard has took to X to post a cryptic message of her own, writing: ‘I was told not to tweet today,’ followed by an emoji covering their mouth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Canadian 2014 Wimbledon finalist has often been quick to voice her opinions, and even has previous experience in commenting on her opponents who have suffered similar drug bans.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova had been banned in 2016, before a defeat to Bouchard a year later.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old then openly labelled her more famous counterpart a ‘cheater’, claiming it was ‘unfair’ that Sharapova was allowed to return to the sport.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘She is a cheater and so, to me, I don\u2019t think a cheater in any sport should be allowed to play that sport again,’ she said.<\/p>\n
‘It\u2019s so unfair to all the other players who do it the right way.’<\/p>\n
Williams was quick to take a dig at her rival on Tuesday, with the 23-time Grand Slam winner posting:\u00a0‘8 is a better number’.<\/p>\n
Halep defeated the American great at Wimbledon to lift her second Grand Slam title in 2019, denying Williams an eighth championship, which perhaps explains the post.\u00a0<\/p>\n
