{"id":289768,"date":"2023-09-13T17:35:18","date_gmt":"2023-09-13T17:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=289768"},"modified":"2023-09-13T17:35:18","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T17:35:18","slug":"john-terry-im-charging-fans-extra-at-events-because-its-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/soccer\/john-terry-im-charging-fans-extra-at-events-because-its-for-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"John Terry: I&apos;m charging fans extra at events because it&apos;s for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>John Terry defends charging fans \u00a3500 to eat with him and \u00a3100 for an autograph, saying that ALL the money will go to charity<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>John Terry has explained that his high-cost event tickets are for charity<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>On top of \u00a325, he has been charging \u00a3100 for autographs on his one-man tour<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He says that every penny will go to his foundation to support various causes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>John Terry has defended his move to charge fans up to \u00a3500 to dine with him and \u00a3100 for autographs, saying that all the money raised will go to charity and that it is &#8216;very important&#8217; to him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Chelsea legend received criticism for asking supporters to pay extra fees on top of \u00a325 for tickets to events on his one-man tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Appearing in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bournemouth, and London on his English escapade, Terry has said every penny raised will go to the John Terry 26 Foundation, which helps different charities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of the \u00a35,000 &#8216;sponsorship package&#8217;, individuals can make a \u00a3500 contribution to have a seat at the table, where 10 people will break bread with the 42-year-old.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He explained that he did not shout about the money going to charity because he did not want to publicise that.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/13\/17\/75390989-12514493-John_Terry_has_explained_that_he_is_charging_fans_lots_of_money_-m-150_1694621274072.jpg\" height=\"583\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>John Terry has explained that he is charging fans lots of money at events to raise charity funds<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/13\/16\/75391351-12514493-image-a-130_1694620553427.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Chelsea legend, who appeared at a Celebrtiy Pro-Am at Wentworth Golf Club today, has been charging \u00a3100 for autographs and \u00a3500 for a seat at a table with him\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Hi guys, just wanted to touch on the stories the press are writing about me charging fans \u00a3100 for signatures and photos and drinks or whatever that may be,&#8217; he said in a video on Instagram.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The big thing \u2013 and this is very important \u2013 the big thing that they forgot to mention is that all proceeds from these events that I\u2019ve been doing \u2013 and the only reason that I signed up \u2013 is to raise money for my foundation, for the John Terry 26 Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I set my foundation up about seven or eight months ago because I wanted to do something personal and on my own where I\u2019m going to be eventually hosting a gala dinner, golf events throughout the year, any opportunities to raise money for my foundation.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Terry cropped up at a Celebrity Pro-Am at Wentworth Golf Club today alongside Gareth Bale and Jermaine Jenas\u00a0on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He scored in Chelsea Legends&#8217; 4-0 win over Bayern Munich legends last week, a match which was played in memory of Gianluca Vialli.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ve been working very closely with various different charities over the last 22 years being Chelsea captain and seeing a lot of terminal and ill and sick children along the way, which is something that\u2019s always been something very close to my heart and always will be.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So rather than doing it for one specific charity, I\u2019ve been focusing on my own foundation in the last six or seven months.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018And this tour that I\u2019m doing, this Q&amp;A that I\u2019m doing, is part of that.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/13\/16\/75391367-12514493-image-a-131_1694620690761.jpg\" height=\"434\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Giving up my time, giving up my day, for all these charities is something that\u2019s very important to me and I\u2019ll never stop that&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But like I said, the key thing that the press have forgotten to write is that all proceeds from this event [will go to charity]. And I didn\u2019t want this publicised, and I agreed this with the guys, because I don\u2019t think it\u2019s right for me to publicise that.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But now they\u2019ve raised the issue I will address it. So every penny from these events goes towards my John Terry 26 Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I apologise for coming out a day or two days late, but I\u2019ll touch on why I didn\u2019t touch on this yesterday: because, again, I was at another charity day working for BGC in London with obviously the very sad news of the World Trade Centres and something that I\u2019ve done for the last five or six years and I\u2019ll continue to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But again, giving up my time, giving up my day, for all these charities is something that\u2019s very important to me and I\u2019ll never stop that.
