Rasmus Hojlund was pulled back to reality after seeing his first goal for Manchester United ruled out by VAR .<\/p>\n
The Dane thought he had got United back on level terms but was denied a goal on his Old Trafford debut as video replays showed the ball had gone out of play in the build-up to the goal.<\/p>\n
Marcus Rashford dribbled the ball over the byline as\u00a0Jan Paul van Hecke slid in to deny the England international any space in the box,<\/p>\n
The United winger managed to cut the ball back for Hojlund who finished calmly under pressure but had taken the ball out of play in the build-up that meant the goal couldn’t stand.<\/p>\n
Hojlund had already began celebrating with his United team-mates who emphatically congratulated the 20-year-old on scoring his first goal for the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

United boss Erik ten Hag meanwhile had already began debriefing centre-back Victor Lindelof as Old Trafford celebrated another young striker scoring his first goal for the club.<\/p>\n
Brighton supporters were delighted to have kept their lead intact after former United striker Danny Welbeck put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute.<\/p>\n

Simple football cut the Red Devils open as Roberto de Zerbi’s side pounced on a lack of bodies in United’s defence to take a shock lead.<\/p>\n
The atmosphere deflated as Hojlund saw his effort chalked off while Brighton supporters rejoiced in watching their side maintain their lead.<\/p>\n
United were unable to muster any other significant efforts during the first-half before Brighton doubled their lead in the 54th minute.<\/p>\n
Pascal Gross cut a calm and collective figure on the edge of the box to drift past Lisandro Martinez and finish into the bottom corner.<\/p>\n
