Manchester United legend Gary Pallister has urged Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag to make peace.

United manager Ten Hag has axed the club’s £73million wonderkid indefinitely and has stated he does not know if the 23-year-old will play for him again.

Sancho escalated their falling out by publicly claiming he was being made a ‘scapegoat’.

There are echoes of Cristiano Ronaldo’s bitter departure under the Dutch boss at the end of last year. The Portuguese star refused to toe the line and was soon sold.

But four-time Premier League winner Pallister pleaded ‘There’s got to be a way of getting the best out of Jadon Sancho because he’s a talented footballer.’

Joadon Sancho could face never playing for Man United again two years after his £73m move

Erik ten Hag has been steadfast in his disapproval over the winger’s decision to take their falling-out public

Gary Pallister (right) has called on both men to make peace and move on from the incident

Pallister also speaks from a position of strength after nearly a decade at the heart of Alex Ferguson’s side that dominated English football for 20 years.

He has remained close to the club in retirement and now, speaking with 888sport, he hopes the warring pair can settle their differences.

‘The war of words we would have would probably be had behind closed doors (when I was a player) and wasn’t there in public,’ Pallister added.

‘Erik felt he needed to go public with the reasons why he left Sancho out and I think that’s probably a reaction from Jadon to come back fighting.

‘It has been a difficult period for the club. Ten Hag has come in, he’s been very disciplined by the looks of it, behind the scenes.

‘We’ve heard of different occasions when he’s come down and hard on players.

‘I think I read something about a clear the air chat. We want to see a Jadon Sancho as the player that he was at Dortmund because he looked like an exceptional talent.

‘We’ve seen it in bits and starts here at United but not enough. He’s still got a lot to prove in a United shirt I would think.

‘It’s not it’s not always just centred around football, you never know what’s going on in a player’s mind, what’s going on in his background, his family life, or anything like that, it’s an understanding of everything.’

Pallister had a slow start to his United career when he joined as a British record signing in 1989. He hopes Sancho can sort his problems too.

‘I was really excited when we brought him in from Dortmund two years ago.

Crisitiano Ronaldo’s bitter departure from United could act as an ominous omen for Sancho

The player was seen watching an Under 18s match at Carrington instead of the fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday

Sancho’s glorious form at Borussia Dortmund secured his transfer and Pallister is hopeful Man United could see it again

‘I know that the Bundesliga is a little bit different from the Premier League., but he was not just doing it there, he was doing it in the Champions League as well – scoring goals, creating havoc.

‘And we haven’t, unfortunately, seen that level of consistency from him at United.

‘I have to say at the moment, he hasn’t reached the heights that we were hoping for.

‘If we get a Jadon Sancho performing like you did at Dortmund, then you’ve got a hell of a player on your hands.’
