Lewis Hamilton has promised to help out his Mercedes team-mate George Russell with the young Brit was left devastated in Singapore after throwing away a podium finish by crashing out on the final lap of the race.<\/p>\n
Russell was pushing to the maximum in order to pressure second-placed Lando Norris into a mistake during the final lap of the Singapore Grand Prix when he clipped the outside wall on the run down to turn ten, causing major damage to the W14 and sending him straight on into the barriers.<\/p>\n
This incident promoted Hamilton into the top three, but Russell was left heartbroken after losing his grip on what would\u2019ve been just his second podium of the season after finishing third at the Spanish Grand Prix back in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking about his team-mate\u2019s incident, Hamilton said: \u201cWe are all trying to be millimetre perfect out there and it’s very, very easy to make mistakes. It’s easy for any of us, being in the position George was in.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Brit has endured a tough season thus far and now sits 71 points behind his seven-time world champion team-mate.<\/p>\n Addressing his evening in Singapore, Russell told Sky Sports F1<\/em>: “It was a really challenging race, the tyres were dropping off and you are pushing the limits. That’s how racing should be, you make a small mistake and you are bitten for it.<\/p>\n “It’s heartbreaking after such a great weekend – the car has felt great, qualifying was great, the race was great, we were bold with the strategy. I feel like I let myself and the team down. It’s tough but we will come back.”<\/p>\n
