{"id":290382,"date":"2023-09-18T15:34:35","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T15:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/?p=290382"},"modified":"2023-09-18T15:34:35","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T15:34:35","slug":"chris-eubank-srs-brother-simon-dies-at-61-as-son-harlem-pays-tribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportslifetale.com\/boxing\/chris-eubank-srs-brother-simon-dies-at-61-as-son-harlem-pays-tribute\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris Eubank Sr&apos;s brother Simon dies at 61 as son Harlem pays tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Chris Eubank Sr&#8217;s brother Simon dies at 61 as his boxing son, Harlem, pays tribute to deceased father with emotional social media message<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Simon Eubank retired from boxing in 1992 with a record of seven wins from 27<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Eubank family lost Chris Snr&#8217;s son Sebastian two years ago to a heart attack\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Simon was a super-welterweight fighter, winning four of his first five bouts\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chris Eubank Snr&#8217;s brother, Simon, has passed away at the age of 61, with his son Harlem announcing the news on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harlem Eubank, himself an unbeaten boxer with an 18-0 record, announced the deeply sad news on Instagram on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>He paid a touching tribute to his father, including a number of photos of his father with a young Harlem, and his brother the former world champion fighter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harlem wrote on Instagram: &#8216;Rest easy up there dad. We love you and we&#8217;ll try do you proud.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While Chris went on to become super-middleweight and middleweight world champion, Simon and twin brother Peter were also fighters, although to lesser acclaim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/18\/13\/75555051-0-image-a-126_1695041122700.jpg\" height=\"478\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Simon Eubank (left) has passed away, with his son Harlem paying tribute in an Instagram post<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/18\/13\/75555047-0-image-a-125_1695041119845.jpg\" height=\"476\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Simon was the brother of former super-middleweight and middleweight world champion Chris Eubank Snr (right)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/18\/13\/75555055-0-image-a-124_1695041116879.jpg\" height=\"476\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The former fighter &#8211; who retired in 1992 with a 7-20 record &#8211; had a twin brother who also fought<\/p>\n<p>Simon&#8217;s career was fought at super-welterweight, and came to an end in 1992 after seven wins and 20 losses, his twin managing double the number of wins but 21 losses, hanging up his gloves in 1991.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite winning four of his first five bouts between in his first 12 months, Simon went on a run of 13 bouts with just a single win in three years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is unfortunately not the first tragic passing to afflict the Eubank family, who lost Sebastian &#8211; son of Chris Snr and brother to Chris Jnr, as well as cousin to Harlem.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sebastian suffered a fatal heart attack in Dubai in 2021, and both Chris Jnr and Harlem continue to bear his name on their shorts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chris Snr &#8211; brother to the deceased Simon &#8211; helps Harlem in the care for Sebastian&#8217;s young son, Raheem.<\/p>\n<p>Harlem is one of the latest in one of Britain&#8217;s most famous fighting families to take to the ring, fighting at super lightweight, recording six knockouts in his 18 professional wins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/article-12531443\/Chris-Eubank-Srs-brother-Simon-dies-61-boxing-son-Harlem-pays-tribute-deceased-father-emotional-social-media-message.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Eubank Sr&#8217;s brother Simon dies at 61 as his boxing son, Harlem, pays tribute to deceased father with emotional social media message Simon Eubank retired from boxing in 1992 with a record of seven wins from 27 The Eubank family lost Chris Snr&#8217;s son Sebastian two years ago to a heart attack\u00a0 Simon was [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":290381,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.8 -
