Steven Gerrard continued his cultural immersion in his new country by dressing up ahead of Saudi National Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Al-Ettifaq manager was pictured smiling in a traditonal thawb and chequered headdress in advance of the annual celebration day, taking place on September 23.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He posed for a video alongside other men in the club’s stadium in a country where homosexuality is outlawed and still punishable by the death penalty.<\/p>\n
It comes after fellow Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in a video\u00a0alongside his Al-Nassr teammates wielding a sword and donning traditional dress.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Gerrard has had a successful start to the season as Al-Ettifaq manager, with the club fourth in the Saudi Pro League after his controversial summer move.<\/p>\n
They have won their last three games and most recently recorded a dramatic 4-3 comeback win against Al-Ta’ee thanks to goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Dembele.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Al-Ettifaq manager posed for a photoshoot in the club’s stadium, with their Twitter account claiming they have ‘ambition beyond space and time’\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a self-congratulatory video released by the club featuring Gerrard and other figures, a narrator said: ‘There is something implanted in us. Dreams come true.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘It’s no illusion,’ the video claimed. ‘We see it with the eyes of faith in our homeland, certain of it with our persistence and determination. Our determination is vast, our sight stretched by our passion.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Ambition beyond space and time, supported by our work. There is something known about us. We dream and achieve.’<\/p>\n
The caption to the post on X, formerly Twitter, boasted: ‘Saudis, we have ambition and we have a dream.\u00a0The impossible is achieved for us.’\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Steven Gerrard has revealed his regret in hindsight at leaving Liverpool when he did in 2015<\/p>\n
Gerrard still has a lot of love for his former club, Liverpool.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He recently in a video posted by The Anfield Wrap on TikTok that he was ‘devastated’ to have left the club just months before Jurgen Klopp joined.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said: ‘I was devastated. I obviously made a decision not to sign a year extension to go to America, whereas if I’d took the extension, I might have got six months under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.<\/p>\n
‘But obviously being under Brendan’s management at the time, I was getting told my game time was gonna get less and less. I didn’t wanna be a sub for Liverpool, I didn’t wanna be a squad player. I still felt that I was the best midfielder there at the time.<\/p>\n
‘But in hindsight, if I’d have knew what was gonna come off, 100%, I’d have signed the year extension, and I’d have put up with four to five months of Brendan to get six months of Klopp, for sure.’<\/p>\n
Gerrard had a legendary career for the Reds, leading them to the Champions League as captain in 2005 and scoring 185 goals in more than 700 games for them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
