with former midfielder agreeing to terminate his contract earlier this month<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chelsea suffer another blow with the departure of a club legend this week<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The 50-year-old has left his role as a technical mentor by &#8216;mutual consent&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail Sport&#8217;s new WhatsApp Channel: Get the breaking news and exclusives here\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The troubles at Chelsea both on and off the pitch have continued with a club legend leaving his role this week.<\/p>\n<p>The former midfielder took up the role of technical mentor in August 2019 after his former team-mate Frank Lampard was appointed manager for the first time at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>But he has now left the Blues after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract, reports journalist Gianluca DiMarzio.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-year-old played in the Legends of Europe match at Stamford Bridge earlier this month in memory of the late Gianluca Vialli.\u00a0The Blues were victorious on the night winning 4-0.<\/p>\n<p>The club legend in question is Claude Makelele, who made 217 appearances for Chelsea during his five years at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/00\/75830767-0-image-m-20_1695685818527.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Chelsea have suffered another blow with the departure of\u00a0club legend Claude Makelele<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/01\/75830743-12560159-Former_midfielder_took_up_the_role_as_a_technical_mentor_to_youn-a-22_1695686755153.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The former midfielder took up the role as a technical mentor to young players in August 2019<\/p>\n<p>Makelele won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup, and the League Cup on two occasions.<\/p>\n<p>On the club&#8217;s official website, it stated that Makelele returned to the club in August 2019 &#8216;as a technical mentor to our young players&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He was based largely at our Cobham training ground, working closely with individual academy players, tracking technical performances in both training and matches as they reach a critical point in their professional development,&#8217;
