Liverpool new boy Dominik Szoboszlai aimed a cheeky dig at Mohamed Salah during a recovery session following Wednesday night’s victory over Leicester City. The Reds came from behind to down the Foxes and reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with Szoboszlai among the goals at Anfield.

The Reds went behind early on as Kasey McAteer opened the scoring for Leicester inside three minutes but managed to hit back through Cody Gakpo after the break. Szoboszlai then stepped up to give Liverpool the lead on 70 minutes with a pinpoint strike which arrowed into the top corner of the goal.

He managed to make a perfect connection with the ball as he swung his right foot, leaving Foxes goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk clawing at thin air. It marked the midfielder’s second goal in four games for Liverpool, although he was unable to escape being mocked by Salah at training the following day.

The Egyptian winger was seemingly unhappy with Szoboszlai’s work rate as he shared a photo of the midfielder and Trent Alexander-Arnold on his Instagram story. The pair appeared to be using their phones in the pool next to the one Salah was in, with the latter adding two disapproving emojis to the image.

He is currently enjoying a promising run of form, having scored twice in his last four appearances for the Reds in all competitions.

It seems as though Jurgen Klopp is certainly happy with how Szoboszlai has started his Liverpool career, even if Salah was quick to mock the midfielder’s training antics on social media. The Reds manager talked up his impact after the final whistle against Leicester and backed him to keep scoring if he continues to let fly from range over the coming weeks.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. That’s how it is. He’s a top bloke, really. A top guy. Easiest step into the team, dressing room-wise and stuff like this.

“Very naturally confident boy. That helps but there’s super hard work and that’s what you saw today. He came on and had two very difficult situations. From that moment on he was just in the game. I don’t have to tell him to shoot. He knows better than I do that he has a pretty good skill.

“The next one that was slightly over was another grenade. You can see that in Premier League games, everyone tries to block him, that’s why it didn’t get through yet. If it does come through there’s a good chance the ball could be in.”

Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on Express Sport?
