Rafael Nadal offered some hope over his expected return to tennis after sharing some fresh training footage. The Spaniard has not played a match since January and underwent surgery in June. Taking to Instagram, Nadal posted a video of himself on the practice court for the first time since before his operation. And it looks promising, with the 37-year-old upping the intensity just weeks after he said his practice sessions “bored” him.<\/p>\n

Nadal posted a video from one of the practice courts at his academy in Mallorca on Wednesday, offering a fresh insight into his recovery from arthroscopic surgery. The 22-time Grand Slam champion picked up a left psoas injury during his Australian Open second-round loss in January and hasn’t played since.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard continued to share some training footage when he was still hoping to mount a comeback during the clay swing. But he ended up shutting down his season, targeting a return for 2024 – likely his final year on tour – and undergoing surgery. Since then, Nadal hadn’t posted any training updates onto his main feed until now.<\/p>\n

In the video, Nadal can be seen moving side to side as he rallies the ball, firing forehands and backhands. The 37-year-old added a check-mark emoji and a sunglasses emoji in the caption. It comes just weeks after he told Movistar that he found training “boring” because he was unable to bring any intensity.<\/p>\n
