Ten Hag backs Onana despite more struggles in Man Utd defeat<\/h3>\n

Marcus Rashford\u2019s place in Manchester United\u2019s starting lineup is under \u2018threat\u2019 following his underwhelming start to the season. The England international has scored just one goal in seven Premier League appearances, prompting internal discussions as to whether a spell on the sidelines could spark him back into life.<\/p>\n

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure in the Old Trafford dugout after his side tasted defeat against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday night – his side\u2019s sixth loss in 10 matches. The Red Devils\u2019 performances have lacked cohesion and belief, with the issues now beyond being due to the mounting injury woes.<\/p>\n

With a tricky match at home to Brentford on the horizon, Ten Hag must rejuvenate his ranks or risk further pressure on his position as United boss. As a result, Rashford could be the first to be axed in the hope of sparking a reaction.<\/p>\n

According to The Mirror, the forward is \u2018under threat\u2019 following a poor run of form that has seen him struggle to make a true impact in the final third. There are \u2018serious concerns\u2019 about the 25-year-old\u2019s performances and, in particular, his body language throughout matches.<\/p>\n

Rashford has cut a frustrated figure since the start of the season, with a member of Ten Hag\u2019s coaching staff expressing his concerns about the issue recently. The academy product has also raised questions about his decision-making over the past few weeks, attempting to break his duck when passing opportunities are available and proving wasteful when trying to race down the wing.<\/p>\n

It is reported that United sources feel that it is becoming hard for Ten Hag to justify his faith in Rashford on current form, especially considering that the winger has been taken off in his past two matches and replaced by less experienced options.<\/p>\n

Jadon Sancho would be the likeliest candidate to replace Rashford if the latter was to be dropped, but the ex-Borussia Dortmund is still unavailable after his social media outburst where he called for Ten Hag\u2019s comments about him to be disregarded. The post has since been deleted but Sancho will not feature until he apologises for his outburst \u2013 which he is refusing to do at present.<\/p>\n

The return of Antony, who was given a leave of absence following allegations of domestic assault, could allow Ten Hag to deploy the Brazilian on the left wing as part of a shakeup. Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri are also available.<\/p>\n
