Real Madrid have reportedly decided to sack a member of the club’s youth set up over a farewell letter he published after leaving Barcelona.

Adria Diaz joined Los Blancos in July to serve as assistant to Sergio Lopez for the club’s ‘Juvenil C’ under-17 side.

According to a report from The Athletic, the club have taken the decision to relieve Diaz of his duties just months into his one-year deal after discovering a letter written by the coach following his departure from Barcelona where he worked in various roles between 2015 and 2019.

Diaz expressed gratitude towards his former employers in the letter, calling the Blaugrana the ‘club of my dreams’ and thanking them for the support he received during a time when his mother was suffering from cancer.

‘One does not know how to begin to express in words the enormous amount of feelings that have flooded me for a few days, difficult, very difficult to express in these lines everything that goes through my head and my heart.’ Diaz wrote in the letter.

‘It’s been 4 years since I joined this club, I still remember that call I received telling me that I was joining the club of my dreams… I couldn’t believe it… I would be FC Barcelona’s coach…

‘In these 4 years what I really take with me are not the successes achieved or lost (leagues, tournaments, …), but the possibility of going all over the world to represent the club of my life, nobody can take that away from me.

‘On the other hand, this experience has made me grow in every sense of my life, because now I am a better COACH and above all a better PERSON.’

Despite his time in the Spanish capital coming to a premature end, Diaz will reportedly be paid the entirety of his salary for the remainder of his contract, and is said to have been offered a position in the academy of Segunda Division side Leganes.

However, a source from Real Madrid disputed the claims, insisting Diaz had asked to leave the club in order to pursue the opportunity at Leganes.
